All day the people of Ordon were hard at work. They were preparing for one of their biggest and grandest of celebrations. The Festival of Farore. This took place once every year before they would plant the new crops. They would praise Farore for her blessing and celebrate by honoring her. This festival was going to be great. They had many people preparing the food. Others were making the decorations while some were practicing the music that was going to be played. Everything was going as planned.
As the day turned to night, everyone was rejoicing. The large campfire was lit and brazing bright, the music was playing while the people began to dance, and food was served hot and ready to be eaten. Everyone was having a good time except for one boy. This boy was sitting on top of the stone pillar just off the shore of the lake. This green haired danced in the wind as his sapphire eyes gazed upon the full moon. This boy was the only one who wasn't partying like the others in the village.
His name was Zephyr. He was the black sheep of the village. Zephyr was an orphan. Unlike most of the children and young adults in this village, Zephyr had no real future planned for him. Most who lived here were either going to be a farmer or a rancher. Neither of those jobs interested the young boy. However, Zephyr's future was going to be different. He was a sage, well, a newly chosen sage. The Forest Sage. The proof of his title was on his right hand. To make sure no one knew of this, Zephyr has his hand wrapped in a piece of cloth.
Zephyr didn't know what to do with his new powers and only had a warning. The sage in his dream had told him to guard this power from the evil that will soon invade Hyrule. Zephyr let out a sigh as he looked up at the moon. What was he going to do? With the power of a sage, what is there to do but hide?

HEAR HIM ROAR, SEE HIM FOAM, BUT WE'RE NOT COMING HOME TIL HE'S DEAD, GOOD AND DEAD KILL THE BEAST Today is to be a grand day. Almost everyone in Ordon was hyped up for the Festival of Forore, and almost everyone participated in the events that were held for it. Garlands were stringed from house to house with the touch of winter still about. Every breath giving promise to the coming spring when everyone could get back to their work. The hibernating plants giving a sigh to the thought of warm summers again, and each animal chattering of what they plan on doing for the new year. Yet, nary a soul gave notice to these signs save for one man. Compared to the many villagers he was quite different. From his height, the sandy blonde hair on his head, piercing wolf like eyes, and pointed ears that showed his heredity. Everyone knew him, yet didn't quite know him at the same time.
Since time had past since the Twilight Incident, the herder had become distant with the villagers. His attention more with his surroundings and the animals that lived there. His time spent as a wolf had left him with the ability to understand the animals. Meaning no offense to the villagers, but the animals were far more interesting to the man rather. Well that wasn't his only reason for being so distant. Traveling the lands of Hyrule had installed a new meaning to the man. He could never stop his gaze from looking out towards the horizon, the feeling of uneasiness in his chest. He was restless, and his travels on the road made him yearn for those dusty roads. Life wasn't as simple as it once was to him, and what's more his mind would play over what could have happened and what did.
Gazing into the flickering flames with the glaze of reminiscence in them, the blonde boys gives a sigh before looking up at the stars. The laughter and music swirling in the air with abstract strokes. He had never been fond of large crows like these, but he could never bear at heart of disappointing those who wished him there. There was always a reason why he lived off from the other villagers near the forest of Faron, but mostly because he was an orphan. Left in the village at a tender age, he was taken care of by the whole community as they would always do to any poor child. Having lived with Collen's parents until he felt the need to live on his own at the age of 13, he didn't exactly have the time to live like a child. He grew up fast like no other child should, and had no friend except for Ilia. Who talked all the time, so maybe that's why he rarely ever talked.
Seeing someone try to motion for him to join in the dancing, the herder just shakes his head with a polite smile and motions for her to continue dancing without him. Getting up with the polite smile still on his face, he walks away from the crowd regardless of the chatter for him to stay. Keeping his eyes on the dirt ground as he walks further and further away from the party the sounds soon hush down to small strokes. Still audible for someone with sharp ears like him, his ears twitch as he watches the head rooster saunter across the dirt road. The Cuccoo murming to himself about one of the children 'man handling' him which causes the Hylian to only chuckle to himself silently.
His legs leading him towards the stone like pillar of the town near the lake, his hands grab onto the ivy vines with familiarity. His hand gripping with the faint memory of the ivy vines in the Water Temple in the lake bed of Lake Hylia. Finding himself just standing there, he looks up towards the starts before climbing with a determined look on his face. Almost at the top, he peers over to see someone else sitting there at the spot. The green hair of the boy standing out in the blue scenery, Zephyr was his name if he recalled. He was an orphan just like Link, but he never really got to know the boy. Rather the teen kept his distance from almost everyone, and Link was usually always too busy with the goats or the children to inquire more on the teen. Sad, that they have lived in the same village to so many years yet he knew practically nothing about him.
With one arm resting on the top of the rock and his other hand still grabbing onto the ivy vines. Only his shoulder poking up top, he just stays in that position as he looks at the boy. His mind thinking of whether he should find some other spot and where it could be. Now that he thought of it, he could just go to the Spirit Spring. It was always very peaceful there... "Humans are so weird. Hanging on rocks like their monkeys or something..." The herder looks down to see the head Rooster sauntering as usual and light pink forms on the blonde's face. A noise of disapproval coming from him as he gives a light glare to the Rooster, who was always known for his not so nice comments. The green clad teen was tempted to just jump back down and throw the cuccoo into the lake. Let's see how he would like that!

Zephyr closed his eyes and began to focus on the sounds around him. The light waves from the lake, the wind blowing around him, and the village's celebration filled his senses. Deep within the boy's mind was a whirlwind of questions. What am I going to do? Why pick me? What if this or what if that. The racing thoughts kept going faster and faster within his head. "...Why me?..."[/b] Zephyr asked himself as he sighed.
He looked up at the starry sky above. The Boy wanted scream to the Goddesses and ask them why him, why out of everyone in Hyrule, it had to be him? What was so special about him? Yet, Zephyr held in this erg so he wouldn't make a scene. The young Sage picked up his old violin that laid on the ground next to his feet. He was only and he needed something to calm himself or so he thought. As the bow ran across his strings, Zephyr began to play. The song was sad and would normally make people cry do to the emotional input Zephyr used when he played. As the pace picked up and the notes began to become more powerful and calming, the wind began to react to him.
The wind blew gently across the lake. The scent of salt water and fresh wildflowers filled the air. Many flowers that were once dead due to the cold began to blossom once again on the stone pillar. The grass turned from a dirt drown and a joyous green. A few birds landed on the rooftops of the nearby shop to chirp along with Zephyr's concerto. Nature itself was playing along with Zephyr. The power of the sage was very powerful. Ever since he had gained this new power, it was as if nature itself spoke to Zephyr and allowed him to control mother nature herself.
As Zephyr stopped playing - the wind calmed, the birds flew away, but the plants remained healthy. The boy set his instrument down and gazed at his hands. With this power, he would remain a freak within this village. If anyone would have found out about this, there would be no telling what might happen. Zephyr feared that he would be used as a simple tool to make this villages' farms flourish yearly. Just the fear of being used for to make everyone else's life easier made his skin crawled. Zephyr didn't know what to do and thous was the reason why he always kept to himself.

HEAR HIM ROAR, SEE HIM FOAM, BUT WE'RE NOT COMING HOME TIL HE'S DEAD, GOOD AND DEAD KILL THE BEAST It seemed like a pretty good plan, but he knew he wouldn't do that to the Cuccoo. No matter how much it jibed and poked fun at the herder, Link just could never bring himself up to hurting the thing. It's not like the rooster was making his life painful and unbearable, after all Link was use to the many jibes he'd get from the villagers. He was use to the snarky comments from the rooster and actually found them slightly amusing. Not that he would say that to the animal, but still.
His attention was soon caught when the sound of a bow being strung across a violin came to his ears. Still hanging off the rock pillar, his expression gave way to intent look as he listened to the music filling the small vicinity. Pulling himself up slowly he sat down not too far from Zephyr and just listened to the sadness fill the air. No one else could hear the music but the two, as the laughter and music near the festival was too loud to allow this mellow melody to penetrate it's merry making.
Closing his eyes, Link listened to each stroke of the bow before fluttering of wings caught his attention. Looking towards the pair of birds that came to listen to the music as well Link only smiled in their direction at the chirps they made along with the music. Wind played with his sandy blonde hair and it almost seemed like everything was singing the melody. It was an amazement to the herder, that he slowly stood up at the sight of newly budded flowers growing right before his eyes. Nature dance and pranced with each stroke of the bow, and birds grew larger in voice, then it all stopped.
As the last note came to a stop, the wind gave a last breath and the birds gave a sigh before lifting to the sky yet the plants continued to shine a smile to the stars. Was this all the doing of Zephyr, or perhaps it was merely coincidence? Link wasn't sure what to think, but if this was all Zephyr's doing then perhaps that's why he would always be to himself. Maybe he thought too good of himself, or he did not want others to know this for fear of the power.
Feeling awkward as he just stood there look at the back of Zephyr's green hair, he takes a big breath before putting his hands together at an idea forming in his head. Clapping at the performance with a bright smile on his face. There was no reason to say any words of encouragement, because to Link this was just enough. Clapping long and loud, but not too loud, enough for Zephyr to hear Link, he stood there for a second before turning around to jump down to the leveled ground. A salute to the head rooster of the town, he began a brisk walk outside of town. His hopes that Zephyr would follow after him, not sure if he would, he stopped just before the path to his house and gives Zephyr a wave with a smile for him to follow before continuing on.
His sandal shoes hit against the dirt road as he leisurely makes his way towards the Spirit Spring in Ordon. A great place to talk privately about things. Link had many questions to ask the teen. How he made the plants grow and where he had come to learn those things. So many questions from a man who rarely ever talked. Why did he never talked? No one ever knew or asked. Mostly he just never liked his voice. To him it was deep and scratchy. It might just be because he had such sensitive ears or he was just very biased about himself. He never liked anything about himself. Nothing about him seemed likable, but as it would seem there is.
Stopping before the water of the spring, Link takes off his shoes and slowly walks into the water. Letting the gentle waters reach his ankle before he just stood there. Deep blue eyes staring at the very spot where he had last seen one of the Light Spirits. His ears drooping at the thought of who he had met here.

Before Zephyr could do anything, the sounds of someone clapping caught his attention. The boy darted around to see who was causing this to only find one person. It was Link. Link, the Hero of Hyrule was standing behind him clapping as his concerto. Why was he here? As Zephyr was going to ask why he hadn't said anything, Link jumped down off the pillar. The boy ran to the edge and knelled down to see if Link was okay.
To Zephyr's amazement, the Hyrulian was safe and was walking off. The erg to yell out his name was building up inside of him. Then, his eye became wide as his racing thoughts began to surge through his mind. Did Link see his powers? Did he think that Zephyr was a freak? So many question were racing in his mind that he couldn't help but hold his head. He mentally told himself to stop as the racing thoughts vanished as soon as they appeared.
Zephyr lifted his head up and watched as Link stopped and wave at him. Zephyr couldn't take it any longer. A force beyond his control told him to follow Link. He didn't know why but he just felt like he had to. So slowly, he grabbed his violin and climbed off the pillar. The Boy landed on his feet and he took off into the distance. Something was pushing him to follow Link as if he was destine to. It was strange but there was nothing Zephyr could do about it.
Soon, the Boy ran passed Link's house and into the forest. Zephyr came to a stop when he reached the Ordon Spring. He was breathing somewhat heavily but nothing too bad. In the distant was Link, standing in the water. The moon and star light danced on the spring water making everything feel majestic. Slowly, Zephyr walked closer into the area and stopped around a few feet from the water and Link. So, now that he was here, what was going to happen?

HEAR HIM ROAR, SEE HIM FOAM, BUT WE'RE NOT COMING HOME TIL HE'S DEAD, GOOD AND DEAD KILL THE BEAST Link continued to keep his gaze on the runic rocks the circle the back part of the spring. His ears drooped at the tight feeling in his chest. He really did miss her, she was very bossy and quite rude but he still missed her. To him it almost seemed like she died, because in fact he would never see her again. Even as he heard the panting breath of Zephyr he didn't turn around or show that he knew the green haired teen was there. He could feel the stare at his back, but he gotten use to the stares. After all he is the hero of Hyrule, everyone looks at him now. Everyone expect things from and he just wished they would stop! He's just a herder, nothing more.
With his left hand holding his sandals, he lifts it up to look at the absent mark on his hand. There once was the mark of the Tri-force on it, but now it's gone. Perhaps because the goddesses thought that he no longer needed it any longer. Yet, he felt empty on the inside when he sees the bear back hand. It's like they took a piece of him, and he just wants it back. It isn't the power that he missed, but the Tri-force gave him comfort. He never realized that until he fighting off moblins and Darknuts.
Realizing that he's just been standing there looking at the bareback of his hand, he turns around and gives an apologetic smile. Then he looks down and rubs the back of his head. He really was at a lost of words, he didn't know how to bring up the subject of what just happened a few minutes ago. With a sheepish smile on his face and light tint of pink as he continues to just stand there feeling extremely awkward he scratches his cheek with his eyes at the ground. "Y-you play the violin really well..." He says in a quiet voice, his ears drooped even more than usual. Looking to the side not sure how to continue the conversation, he finally decides that he can't be meek about this. He had a disturbing dream last night about the sages dying, and if there was one thing he knew it was the powers the sages held.
Looking up at Zephyr with a whole new expression. Determined with dangerous wolf like eyes, his lips form into a firm line. "What did you do to the sage of Forest?" He says with a firm, yet quiet voice. He wanted to ask more of why he did it, or how he got it. Yet his voice would not cooperate with him. His hesitation of speaking kept that demanding question to float in the air. Walking out of the water, Link stepped into the soft dirt and placed his sandals back on. Straightening his posture to look at Zephyr once more, his gaze looking Zephyr up and down before stopping to look at the cloth wrapped around his hand. Did he get hurt, or was he hiding something?

Zephyr didn't know what to say. For one, how did he know about the power of the sage that Zephyr had? Sure, it was rare to find someone with magic but Link knew what his powers were. A feeling of fear filled his heart. What was Link going to do to him? So many questions filled his racing head. "I don't know what you're talk about...Sage of Forest? That's just a fairytale..."[/b] Zephyr explained, trying to change the subject.
He didn't want to fight or anything, Zephyr was normally the nonviolent type unless it came down to fighting Deku-Babas or Moblins. Zephyr watched as Link's eye drifted from Zephyr to his hand. In fear, Zephyr covered his bandaged hand with his left. The Boy looked down at the ground and tried not to look at Link. Would Link judge him if he could him what he dreamed about? The Boy was scared and didn't know what to do.
Zephyr sighed as he began to walk forward and stood next to look while staring at the water. He lifted his right hand and began to unravel the worn bandage. As the last loop was pulled from his hand, a mark was tattooed on his hand. It was the symbol of the forest, The Mark of the Forest Sage. "...One night, The Forest Sage appeared in my dreams and warned me of danger. An evil force was going to invade Hyrule. The Sages were captured by this force and passed their powers to a new generation in order to save Hyrule...He gave me this mark and his power as soon as I awoke from that dream...Since then, I kept this a secret until now..."[/b] Zephyr explained as he showed Link the mark on the back of his right hand.
Zephyr cast away his feelings of fear and showed Link. He felt save but at first was scared. After all, it isn't everyday that a sage passes his power onto a new generation. He hoped that Link wouldn't tell anyone but why would he? He hardly talked to anyone as it was. Hell, Zephyr was surprised when he spoke to him for the first time. But, the matter at hand was, what was Link going to do?

HEAR HIM ROAR, SEE HIM FOAM, BUT WE'RE NOT COMING HOME TIL HE'S DEAD, GOOD AND DEAD KILL THE BEAST Link stood there as his gaze continued to look at the covered bandage before his eye looked up to the face of Zephyr. Listening to the uncertainty in his voice made Link frown. He was lying to him. He never liked it when people would lied to him. He felt cheated and betrayed by the fact that this teen before him could have done something to one of the Sages. One of the Sages that had helped him on his journey to keeping Hyrule safe, someone that has lived years upon years. Clenching his fist at the sudden anger rising in his chest, Link looks away ashamed by such hostile feelings welling up inside of him. He shouldn't jump to conclusions since he didn't know what had happened. Perhaps everything was just a trick of the lighting. Yeah..maybe.
Link's expression softens up after much talking to himself about how it's ridiculous that he's getting worked up over something he doesn't have solid facts about. Looking at Zephyr once more his eyes widen a fraction as he listens to what Zephyr said. All of the sages were dead now? How could this be? Who could have attempted to take their powers? So many questions were reeling through his mind that he had to look away to gather his thoughts once more. Looking up once again to see the mark on the teen's hand, that Link unconsciously covered distance between the two in matter of seconds and grabbed him by the hand. His deep blue eyes narrowed down to look at the mark with precision. It was exactly the same mark that he saw in the Arbitrary grounds.
With his left hand holding Zephyr's right wrist, he suddenly started to feel the emptiness on his hand again. His expression begins to look troubled, and it's only after staring at the mark for a few seconds that he sudden see the awkward little distance he was from Zephyr. It wasn't much to most people, but for someone who rarely found comfort in the close proximity of people found it rather uncomfortable. Stepping back and looking away to hide the slight pink tint on his face, he rubs the bottom of his nose before looking at Zephyr with an attempt of a serious face with the still light pink tint to his face. "Then there are others?" Link asks knowing the answer already, but he just wanted to hear it from someone else's mouth.
He just had to tell Zelda this, no wait. She probably already knows. He wanted to just pack his bags, get Epona, and leave to find the other sages. Yet he knew that he would never be able to find them. Hell the only reason he had found out about Zephyr was because he did something to set him off, but waiting around some place for something weird to happen would take time. He wasn't sure if he had time, not to mention him leaving all packed would raise some question from some people in the Village. Not to mention he just couldn't leave Zephyr by himself now. Actually he didn't want Zephyr to leave his sight period. Knowing all this and danger of something bad happening he didn't want Zephyr staying in the forest like he does.
"Stay with me. Link says as if Zephyr didn't have a choice in the matter, though thinking on it it did sound odd. "To keep you safe from any danger that might happen. It wouldn't be good if something happened to you." Link clarifies. Looking out of the Spirit Spring a sudden question comes to mind. Bitting his lip and thinking of whether it's okay to ask such a question, he decides to do so anyway. "Why do you live in the forest?"

Zephyr was so confused. In mere seconds, Link had grabbed Zephyr by the wrist to examine the mark and moved closer, invading his personal space. The Boy's face began to turn a light pink as his began to blink a bit. This was close....too close. A strange feeling erupted within Zephyr. This feeling appeared rarely when certain people would talk to him within the village. He didn't know what it was. Just as fast as Link grabbed his wrist, Link quickly let go and stepped back a bit.
Zephyr blinked again as Link tried to change the subject. He closed his eyes and began to think back on the dream. "I believe so, after all, the Sage said that all the others were capture so I'm guessing that other people within Hyrule have the powers of the Sages as well..."[/b] Zephyr explained. If this was true, than Zephyr wasn't alone. Others around Hyrule had been chosen to protect Hyrule.
Before Zephyr could say anything else, Link had quickly replied to him. Zephyr was shocked at what Link said. He.....He wanted to protect him? For some reason, Zephyr was both happy yet angry. Why now? Why would anyone care for him now? Is it because he had the power of the sage? Out of all the times Zephyr needed help, not once did someone came to help him. But now that Zephyr had power did someone want to protect him. This really got under his skin. He trained night and day to defend himself and not even once did he get a hand from a single villager. Link had the nerve to say such a thing to him.
"I don't need protecting! I lived most of my life in the forest to distance myself from this village. Everyday, I work my hands to the bone. I do everything myself and yet until now, no one has ever helped me! No one has ever helped me before and I don't see why someone would help me now! No one in this village even talks to me, they rarely even look at me! They think I'm some sort of freak, an outcast because I wasn't born in their damn village..."[/b] Zephyr said as he stopped for a bit.
"....No one has ever talked to me until now.....even you. Until you found out about my powers, you offered to help me and talk to me. Is it because you think I'm weak?! I don't need protecting from someone who hasn't even talked to me his whole damn life! I'm a freak and I will always be one...."[/b] Zephyr slowly turned around and faced the exit. He began to walk away as a few tears rolled down his face. Every time Zephyr would get upset or angry, he would cry. he didn't know why, he just did. The brutal years of being alone got to him and no one has ever talk or even got to know him. This is why he lived alone in the forest.

HEAR HIM ROAR, SEE HIM FOAM, BUT WE'RE NOT COMING HOME TIL HE'S DEAD, GOOD AND DEAD KILL THE BEAST The last shade of pink finally faded from his face as he listened to Zephyr answer his question. He knew the answer and he knew how horrible he would feel yet he still asked. To think those Sages gave up their life just to keep Hyrule safe from what ever opposing for it was. That was courage. He wasn't even sure if you could do it, but then again over months of traveling. He found out a few things he didn't think he was capable of, and slightly feared it.
Then came the reply to Link's own decision, and it almost felt like he was being slapped. Standing there wide eyed he felt something rise in his chest. That uncomfortable feeling that he wasn't use to, but knew all to well. It was bubbling up like a volcano ready to erupt, and as much as he tried to keep the feeling down he could only grind his teeth in distaste. His blue eyes narrowing down to deadly slits at the words Zephyr dared to say. The villagers did nothing to him! They never once said bad words to him or raised a hand against him! It was like Zephyr was saying they were all against him! That wasn't true, they just could never go near him. He had such a high wall that everyone didn't..they just...no...
"SHUT UP!" Link shoats with his fists clenched and his eye shut close before they open up. Link didn't realize that he was giving off a deadly vibe or the fact his expression resembled that of a dangerous beast. "How can you expect help if you never ask for it! You talk as if the villagers forsake you, yet you don't even bother to know them either!" His voice was loud, he wasn't use to hearing his voice in such a way, but the feeling inside of him wouldn't let him back down now. He backed his voice down to a dangerous growl. "You are weak. You don't understand the dangers just outside of this forest. Not once have you left this place, yet you talk as if you could easily take a Darknut." Link steps forward and points towards the outside of Ordon. Towards the Faron woods and the rest of Hyrule. "If the Sages couldn't handle this unknown force, who's to say that you can?"
Link lets his hand drop to his side and his chest heaves with the traces of anger simmering over his body. Standing there for a few seconds he starts to realize just what he said and how he said it. He was angry....he hated being angry. His anger was one thing he never liked taking control of himself, because he was always blind of what he's doing at the time. He always made someone upset when he got angry, and so that's why he always tried his best to avoid conflicts. Looking down at the ground his ears droop and he bears a grieved expression. "I-I'm sorry...I-I di..." He did mean it so he just couldn't say that he didn't. He wished he had never said it, but it's already happened. What's more he probably scared Zephyr, he usually did scare people. He felt horrible, and so he just stood there with his head bowed. He had screwed up, and Zephyr was probably already gone by now. He the green headed teen probably hated him now.
Maybe this is why he never talked much....
